AGREEMENT
The adopting family represents that all members of the family are free of past and present charges of cruelty to animals and agrees to accept the following conditions in order to be eligible to adopt the cat described above. The adopting family agrees that the cat will be a house pet and will receive all care and attention necessary to ensure the health and well being of the cat. This includes, but is not limited to:
1. Providing an indoor house environment. The cat will be kept in an area where sufficient access to the family is assured, where adequate heating/cooling, food, and water are available.
2. Providing nutritionally healthy food, adequate opportunity for exercise, and clean, fresh water sufficient to maintain proper health.
3. Providing adequate grooming to keep the cat mat-free, flea- and tick-free, and to maintain coat condition, ears, feet, nails, teeth, and eyes.
4. Providing routine medical care as well as immediate medical attention in the event the cat is injured or becomes ill.
5. Providing a safe and emotionally nurturing environment for the cat which means that the cat will not be abused in any manner; will not be used in any aspect of cat/animal fighting; will not be beaten or otherwise treated cruelly; and will not be subjected to any biological, chemical, psychological, or other experiment.
6. Refraining from allowing children, other individuals, or animals to tease, torture, or otherwise hurt the cat.
7. Under no circumstances is this cat to be declawed.
8. The adopting family recognizes that although every possible effort has been made to provide a cat which is compatible with the adopting family's home environment, the temperament and behavior of the cat is not warranted. Neither Ragdoll Rescue NW nor anyone associated therewith is to be held liable for any acts of the cat while living with the adopting family. The adoptive family understands that should the animal cause personal injury or property damage after adoption, Ragdoll Rescue NW and it’s representatives and volunteers as well as Rescue Alliance Of Hairless & Other Breeds, Inc. or its board or volunteers shall in no way be liable in whole or part for that damage and hereby assumes and agrees to hold Ragdoll Rescue Nw and Rescue Alliance harmless from any and all liability for the animal, or any injury or damage that may be caused by it. Adopter hereby waives all claims, losses, or damages which may arise after the adoption of this animal, caused by any act or omission by Ragdoll Rescue NW and Rescue Alliance which results in personal injury or property damage to any person by this animal, and the Adopter agrees not to bring any legal action seeking any remedy against Ragdoll Rescue NW and Rescue Alliance in connection with this agreement or in connection with personal injuries or property damage claimed to result from any act or omission by Rescue Alliance whether by Adopter or any third party.
9. The adopting family agrees to provide access to the cat for follow-up visits. Ideally, these will take place if requested by a Ragdoll Rescue NW representative, at one month, three months, six months, and one year after adoption, and annually thereafter, but can also include random visits.
10. The adopting family agrees to donate the amount of _________________ to be used by Ragdoll Rescue NW to recover expenses incurred in rescue, including but not limited to health care, grooming, feeding, and required daily care. Without your contributions, we could not continue to provide the level of care these animals need and deserve.
11. The "trial period" for placement of this cat with the adopting family shall be a period of thirty days. After thirty days from the date on this adoption form, the trial adoption will be considered permanent. If the adoption aborts for any reason except violation of the terms of this agreement during this trial period, Ragdoll Rescue NW will refund the adoption donation to the adopters, upon written request.
12. The adopting family will keep the cat for so long as it shall live and will not transfer the ownership or custody to any other person, business or organization, except for the return of the cat to Ragdoll Rescue NW. The adopting family agrees not to give the cat away, take him/her to any type of shelter, Animal Control, or Humane Society, or sell for any monetary amount. The cat must be returned to Ragdoll Rescue NW if he/she cannot be kept for any reason.
13. Ragdoll Rescue NW must be notified prior to any change of residence.
14. The adopting family will notify Ragdoll Rescue NW immediately if the cat is stolen, lost, or deceased.
15. The adopting family will agree to notify Ragdoll Rescue NW if for any reason they cannot or will not keep the adopted cat, and Ragdoll Rescue NW shall have final decision for any potential adoptive family and be given the opportunity to take the cat back into foster care.
16. If there are any violations of this contract, the undersigned will be held criminally and civilly responsible. The value of each cat from this rescue has been set at $500.00, and if this contract is broken in any way, the adopter will be responsible for the full amount in a court of law, in addition to those costs outlined below. Any misuse or intentional harm to this cat will result in prosecution. We will protect our rescues from any undo neglect or harm by any means necessary.
17. If at any time during the cat's life, the cat is treated in a manner inconsistent with this contract, the adoption will be terminated and Ragdoll Rescue NW will reclaim ownership and custody of the cat. The undersigned adopting family will be liable and responsible for the reimbursement of any and all costs associated with recovering the cat and preparing the cat for re-adoption, including any legal fees.
18. This Contract shall be governed by and construed under the laws of the state of Oregon. The parties agree that any legal proceedings arising out of this contract shall be mediated or litigated in Marion County or Multnomah County in the state of Oregon or such other place as the representative from Ragdoll Rescue NW shall designate.
18. The adopting family acknowledges that they have read all provisions of this agreement, that the purpose of the agreement is to safeguard the health and well-being of the cat, and to protect the cat against neglect, abuse, and cruelty, and that the adopting family enters into this legally binding contract freely and with good will.
